It's All About the WFor this assignment, we had to incorporate our school's logo on to a theme of our choosing. we also had to include "It's all about the W" somewhere in the picture. I decided t do a chorus theme and took me a bit to find a proper background. I made it look like a very old piece of paper and added musical notes along with the pianist and conductor. The W is the singer and i added a perspective effect to the quote so it wouldn't look out of place with the music scale getting further away.
I know this was a way to relearn the basics of photoshop because some people haven't had the class in a year. Program used: Photoshop ResumeThis was a resume but making it digitally and being more creative than just typing up a boring paper. Before we did this, we researched 3 careers and wrote about what they did, skills or certificates needed to apply for it, salary, etc. We each chose 1 out of the 3 and begun our resumes, the info required to be in here was our skills, education, references, name, occupation, a little bit about yourself and programs we use. As shown above, that was the end result but i forgot that we should never use strokes to our art. It gives it a clip art type of feeling so excuse me for that.
This gave me a good representation of what my future resume should include to make it look professional. Program used: Illustrator Part Two: logos |
Who Are You DesktopThe purpose of this one was to reintroduce us to photoshop because it's been a while some of us were in this class. What was required from us was to make a desktop picture from a bird's eye view. The things you'd put in the photo would describe who you are as a person. You needed to put your name somewhere into the photo and that's pretty much it. I found it to be a fun way to get used to photoshop again.
Program used: Photoshop Flat DesignThe flat design is literally what the name says. I needed to have at minimum 5 objects on the picture (just text didn't count) and they could be anything. The things was that they had to look 2-dimensional and from my pervious mistake, i avoided adding strokes besides on the phone because the outer ring of the case had that black strip. The ps4 controller was the most difficult object to make here because i have never used illustrator before and i was still new to it's mechanics. Other than that, i really liked the assignment and it helped me with using illustrator to do these kind of things
After practicing using the pen tool on a different assignment, this really tested my skills of this program. I eventually got the hang of it and started enjoy this program. Program used: Illustrator |
This was a continuation of the 10 logo design project (shown down below). We had to choose our best logo. I choose this one because i showed others and they all said this one was pretty good. When that was done, we needed to "break it down" by making two of the same logo in a gray scale, separate the logo from the name of the business. That was only the top part, at the lower bottom we needed a lot more information of the logo. We need to say what fonts were used, type the ABC's in that font (both uppercase and lowercase), have a pattern at the bottom that matched the theme of the logo and finally a sample of each color used (both the original and gray scale one) also including their RGB, CMYK, and hexidecimal. This was to give the client looking at the logo's design to see it in different ways to see if they'd want to change anything.
This gave me the general idea of how to show as much info of your work, or in this case a logo, to a client. I think it's time consuming but you are working for someone here. Program used: Illustrator |
My class got started on this after the flat design project but before even touching a computer we had to read a list of things to be aware of while designing the logos. Later we got to work on making 20 logo designs and then had to get confirmation from our teacher Mrs, Scoggins that at least 10 of them were good. I got to work on the 10 logos and finished them a little bit late but there they are.
The assignment really informed of every single thing to consider when designing a logo for someone. It's not a easy job but it can still be fun. Program used: Illustrator |
Plane Animation |
Stop Gap Motion Video |
For the plane, we got to mess with adobe premier pro and learned how to make flash animations. We had a simple job and that was to move the plane from the left to right of the screen to make it seem lie it's flying. The program was acting up for everyone and we decided not to use it after that.
I know this wasn't the purpose of the assignment but this taught me to find easy and reliable programs t use when working. Program used: Adobe Premier Pro CC 2015 |
I got partnered up with a girl named Dinadja and we had to come up with a storyboard and a theme of our stop gap project. We spent a class day on thinking of ideas for the theme and came up with two kids spending time together each season. Her and i were interested in doing the animation with paper and printing out backgrounds. It was time consuming to create the poses of the kids and new clothes for each season. It turned out okay for our first stop motion animation.
This made me be grateful of the people who have made movies like this where each scene is a picture and the slow procedure of it. An example i can think of is "The Nightmare Before Christmas", the old classic i love. Program used: iMovie |
This was our first audio assignment and what we had to do was, in Garageband, we had to create at least a 90 second song, creative title and cover for it, and at least 4 layers of track playing at the same time. I spent a day or two creating the techno song in GarageBand (i like that kind of music) and another day creating the cover in Photoshop. The name came from a music title generator, it told me "Baggage City" and i was fond of it. When i hear that name i thought of men in a tux and a colorful city, with their luggage there as if they left an airport. "but where did the TV mask come from?" well i honestly don't know, it just seemed like every techno band has their mask as their signature and so i gave the middle guy the mask.
Since i was only one person that was in charge of it all, i can see why they need more than one person to work on the music, a title, and cover. It's a stressful job all on your own. Programs used: Photoshop and GarageBand |

This assignment was a public service announcement on a subject you chose. The theme had to be something worth broadcasting to a community and i chose suicide. We then made a script to read from and it had to contain things related to the subject and grasp the audiences attention. When i got it passed by my teacher, i recorded it on my phone and uploaded it to GarageBand. I then added background music to give it a serious and sad tune, after that i was pretty much done with it.
The amount of work that goes into these and the fact it's non=profitable really surprises me. The hardest thing for me was to think of a way to catch a viewer's eye and listen to the end. I give props to those who make PSAs. Program used: GarageBand |

What was expected from us was to use some music or song of our choice and add some dialog from a clip of a movie/tv show. I had the idea of using Elf and a christmas song to create something. Looking up Elf clips, most of them were funny and easy to decide which to use. For the christmas songs i had to combine two because they seemed to fit good together. This had to be a minute long and at least 3 tracks playing.
I always wondered how people get the ideas to make these kind of things and post them online. i only had a few days while some take a few weeks to make a great remix. Program used: GarageBand |

What not to do is exact;y what the title says it is. It's a video of actions you shouldn't do somewhere. I got in a group with 3 other people, their names are in the credits, and we decided on the cafeteria as our theme. We then chose the who was in charge of what for the video, then got to work on the storyboard and script. Days passed until a Thursday, that's when we agreed we would start filming. After an hour of awkwardness and fun, the filming process was complete. I used that Friday to combine the background song, the clips, and edit everything pretty much.
This project taught me the importance of communication and scheduling with the people you work with. Program used: iMovie |

I found this to be my favorite thing we worked on for the video section because getting clips of a movie and manipulating them filled my imagination. I chose Monsters Inc. and changing it from a family friendly movie to a scary movie. I specifically looked for scenes of the movie where the monsters were scaring the kids. They were intendedly being scary so adding a good creepy song and dialog scenes would change it easily. The title of it could of been better but i couldn't think of a good title to save my life.
